THEATRE POLIS is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed e-journal on theatre and the arts, issued by the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese, according to the departmental assembly decision of 22nd January 2013.
As suggested by its name, alluding to Aristotle’s famous definition of ‘polis’ in his treatise, entitled, Politics (1252a. 1-7), the journal aims at being the virtual topos of a theatre polis, which is constituted on the basis of theatre as a commonly sought for ‘good’ and, inversely, of the pursuit of  common good through theatre and the arts.
The fields covered by THEATRE POLIS are Greek and world theatre and drama i all their historical manifestations and in their wider connections with culture, theory and more generally all the arts and humanities, such as literature, dance, music, art, performance and rituals, art education, costume design, scenography and architecture.
Being a complex art, theatre entertains a relation of mutual interaction with the other arts as well as different historical, social and cultural contexts. The different scientific and artistic areas encompassed by THEATRE POLIS responds this complexity and also reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the Study Programme of Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese, which constitutionally combines scientific and artistic education, theory and practice.
The interdisciplinary journal THEATRE POLIS is based on the system of multiple and anonymous peer-reviewing, it is issued annually. Its issues are often devoted to special themes, and are edited by guest editors, approved or suggested by the Editorial Committee which includes all teaching and research staff members of the Department.
A Call for Papers is put up for special issues of the journal.

The first issue of the journal is published in 2014.
