Curriculum Vitae
Alkistis Kondoyianni is Emerita Professor of Drama in Education at the Department of Theatre Studies, University of the Peloponnese. She has graduated the Philosophy Department of Athens University, the Academy of kindergarten Teachers, St. Nicholas Training College, the Further Studies in Special Education at Marasleios, the University of Florence and the College of Writing (Omeros). Her doctorate at Athens University refers on Drama in Education and on the promotion of social competence of students with special needs. She is the author of 38 books for children and educators about Drama, Puppetry and Museum Education. She has participated at European research groups and has given lectures and workshops worldwide (England, Italy and Japan). Her last book is “Black Cow – White Cow, Drama and Intercultural Education”, while her last interest and voluntary work is the organization of education inside the prisons (Tyrinth, Nafplio, Tripolis and Korydallos). Her dog, Eros, participates in all her activities.

Vasso Barbousi, Emerita Professor in the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese, is a graduate of the Rallou Manou Dance School and the School of Physical Education and Sport Science in Athens. She continued her studies in New York at the Schools of Martha Graham and Erick Hawkins. She studied choreography and improvisation with Robert Ellis Dunn. She holds a Master of Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University, and received her PhD from the University of Thessaly.
She danced with the Greek Chorodrama of Rallou Manou. In 1987, she founded the dance group Okyrrhoe, with which she presented several performances. She collaborated with the National Theatre of Greece and with directors such as K. Arvanitakis, N. Kontouris, V. Papavasileiou, and R. Pateraki.
She taught at the Department of Early Childhood Education of the University of Thessaly and at the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens under Law 407/80. Her research interests focus on the history and theory of dance, the relationship between dance and theatre, improvisation and choreography, and choreography in ancient drama.
In 2010, she organized the First International Dance Conference (Bodies that Dance: Practices and Politics) in collaboration with the University of the Peloponnese, the Department of Theatre Studies, the Greek Choreographers’ Association, the Athens Concert Hall, and the Ministry of Education, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
She organized performances, seminars, and symposia for students with dance artists from Greece and abroad. In 2018, she and a group of students participated in the NELKEN-Line platform. The project DANCE! NELKEN-LINE was officially announced by the Pina Bausch Foundation on June 1st, 2017. The invitation to create a video featuring a specific part of Pina Bausch’s famous choreography Nelken (Carnations) was extended to groups worldwide.
The Department of Theatre Studies responded by producing a video filmed in outdoor locations in Nafplio, which was uploaded to the Pina Bausch Foundation's NELKEN-Line project. The initiative was part of the course Dance III: Composition–Improvisation.

Maria Velioti-Georgopoulou is an Emerita Professor in the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese, specializing in Anthropology-Ritual-Performance. She holds a degree from the Department of History and Archaeology of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Athens and a Master's degree (D.E.A.) and PhD in Social Anthropology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris).
At the Department of Theatre Studies, she taught undergraduate courses including "Ritual, Performance and Theatre: Anthropological Approaches", "Folk Theatre", "Puppet Theatre: Multicultural Traditions", "Ritual and Ancient Drama: An Anthropological Reading". She served as Director of the Postgraduate Study Programme “Theatre and Society: Theory, Stage Practice and Teaching” (2018/19-2022/23), where she taught the courses "Anthropology, Ritual and Theatre: From the Sacred to the Secular", "Research Methodology with Emphasis on Theatre and Other Performing Arts". She also served as Vice Dean of the School of Fine Arts at the University of the Peloponnese.
Maria Velioti-Georgopoulou has conducted extensive fieldwork, particularly in the Peloponnese and especially in the region of Argolida. In the past, she worked as a researcher at the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation (now the Vassilis Papantoniou Foundation) in Nafplio and at the General State Archives-Argolida Archives. She has led and participated in various research projects. She has been involved in the design and organization of exhibitions and educational programmes in several institutions, especially at the Vassilis Papantoniou Foundation, where she was a member of the editorial board of the journal Ethnographika. She has also collaborated with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Argolida in the organization and operation of the permanent exhibition of the Byzantine Museum of Argolida. She serves on the boards of various scientific and cultural institutions, including the Vassilis Papantoniou Foundation, and has previously been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Museum of Greek Folk Art (Athens) and the Board of the local branch of the War Museum (Nafplion).
Maria Velioti-Georgopoulou continues to teach at the Department of Theatre Studies and supervises postgraduate and doctoral dissertations. She also continues her research and publishes scholarly work related to her areas of interest, including anthropology and ritual, secular/political ceremonies and memory, puppet theatre (anthropological approaches), the Peloponnese, historical anthropology, material culture and museums and the Arvanites

Varvara Georgopoulou is an Emerita Professor of Theatre Studies at the Department of Theatre Studies, University of the Peloponnese. Since her retirement, she has continued her research and writing activities in the fields of Modern Greek Theatre history, the reception of ancient drama, theatre criticism, women's presence in dramaturgy and theatre practice, the relationship between history and theatre, and the theatre of the Ionian Islands. She continues to supervise postgraduate theses and doctoral dissertations, participates in conferences in Greece and abroad, and edits collective volumes. She has published more than fifty studies and articles in academic journals and edited volumes on topics related to the history of Modern Greek Theatre and theatre criticism. She has also participated in numerous Greek and international conferences. Her main research interests include theatre criticism, the theatre of the Ionian Islands, the revival of ancient drama, the interrelation of history and theatre and women's contribution to dramaturgy and theatre practice.
