SCIENTIFIC, ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL EVENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE STUDIES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR  2022 - 2023
Since its foundation, the Department of Theatre Studies has demonstrated a rich and multifaceted activity in organising cultural events, as well as local, national and international conferences and seminars. These are held on the initiative of the Department's teaching staff, with the participation of students and in cooperation with local, national and international bodies. Apart from the Department's Research Programmes and International Cooperations, which are listed in specific categories on the website, the main artistic and scientific activities of the Department of Theatre Studies fall into the following categories: Conferences – Symposia, Lectures – Discussions, Seminars – Workshops, Exhibitions – Festivals, Artistic Events – Performances, Educational Programmes and Activities.
More specifically, the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese organises numerous events annually, such as lectures and seminars with renowned Greek and foreign authors, artists and academics, screenings, performances, exhibitions and activities aimed both at the Department's students and at the local community of Nafplio, as well as the general public. Furthermore, as part of the courses offered during undergraduate and postgraduate studies, the Department organises student visits to museums, exhibitions, theatre performances, theatrical venues (e.g., Greek National Opera, National Theatre, Megaron Athens Concert Hall, ancient theatres, archaeological sites, museums), libraries, radio and television stations.
At the same time, our students carry out numerous artistic activities, performances and exhibitions as part of their courses and/or internships, under the guidance and assistance of the teaching staff, as well as artistic events on their own initiative. The activities of the DTS promote international and national scientific and artistic cooperation and contribute dynamically to the cultural life of Argolis, building bridges between the university community and local society, both in Greece and abroad.
  • Conferences

(07/07/2023 to 09/07/2023) International Conference | Performing Space 2023. From 7 to 9 July 2023, in cooperation with the Technical University of Madrid (Spain), Roma Tre University (Italy) and Nottingham Trent University (UK). The purpose of the conference is the scientific and artistic exploration of the relationship between performance and space, as well as the creation of an interdisciplinary framework within which participants will have the opportunity to present their research and exchange views and experiences with reference to performance and significant spaces of the built environment from antiquity to the present day. (01/06/2023) Scientific Conference entitled: "Eco-Bio-Logies: Human and Environment in the Performing and Other Arts". Vouleftiko of Nafplio (Old Parliament), on 1 June and 2 June 2023. Within the framework of the conference, excerpts from selected artistic works of the Department are presented on the ground floor of the Peloponnese building. (programme, book of abstracts, poster)

(03/03/2023) International Conference | Ancient myths under detective investigation: CRITIQUE POLICIÈRE ET MYTHOLOGIE. Co-organised by the Postgraduate Programme (MA) "Creative Writing, Theatre and Cultural Industries" and the University of Paris VIII-Saint Denis, with the support of the Onassis Scholars’ Association and the participation of academics and authors, such as Pierre Bayard and Jean-Philippe Toussaint.   • Participation in an International Scenography Exhibition

The Department of Theatre Studies of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Peloponnese is participating for the third time in the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ 2023).The title of the Department's overall participation is: "Snapshots / Instant dreams".
