Seeking Words of Encouragement: In Dialogue with Voices from the Oral Tradition

An interactive performative lecture and creative workshop with American poet, musician and performer Dianne De Laet

The Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese welcomes American poet, musician and performer Dianne De Laet for an interactive performative lecture and creative workshop exploring women’s voices, war, forced displacement and the power of oral tradition.

Through four stories from different cultural traditions, from Hecuba in Euripides’ The Trojan Women to the history of the Cherokee people and the Trail of Tears, and  Palestine, the event creates a dialogue between collective memory and contemporary experiences of war and displacement.
