Course Description

The course introduces students to the basic concepts of theatre’s contribution to the holistic development of the child. It explores the use of theatre as a tool for resolving interpersonal conflicts, improving communication, and enhancing relationships among school-age and adolescent students. A key component of the course is practical training through experiential workshops focused on theatre-based techniques for conflict resolution in peer relationships.

After the completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • understand the role of theatre in relation to developmental stages and age-specific characteristics;

  • identify differences in how theatre is received across age groups ;

  • apply basic theatre-based techniques for conflict resolution in school and adolescent settings;

  • apply methods for developing emotional intelligence through theatre; 

  • use theatre to enhance interpersonal communication skills; 

  • design and facilitate theatre-based activities for children and adolescents;

  • organise experiential developmental drama workshops and apply relevant techniques in practice; 

  • evaluate and adapt theatre-based educational programmes to different contexts.
