STUDENT HANDBOOK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE STUDIES
Dear students,
Welcome to the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese.
This handbook provides essential information to help you become familiar with your Department and the services operating within the School of Fine Arts to which it belongs. In any case, you are required to regularly visit and stay informed through the Department’s website (http://ts.uop.gr). You may also contact the relevant staff members directly at the addresses listed on the website.

SECRETARIAT
Students are served in person or by an authorised representative on the following days and hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday (10:00 – 13:00)
For service, students must present their ID card, passport, or student ID (academic card).
ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC SERVICES
After enrolment, students receive login credentials (username and password) for all electronic services of the University of the Peloponnese.
DEPARTMENT WEBSITE
The Department maintains a website with all necessary information regarding its operation (study guide, staff, facilities, timetable, examination schedule, announcements, etc.).

EMAIL ACCESS
Students are entitled to a personal university email account. Department accounts follow the format: tsxxxyyy@uop.gr, where xx is the year of admission and yyy the last three digits of the student registration number.
Access is available via webmail (webmail.uop.gr) or email clients (e.g. Outlook).

E-CLASS
The e-class platform is used by instructors to upload course materials and announcements. Registration may be required.

STUDENTWEB / E-SECRETARY SERVICE
Students can:
A. View their academic record (grades, registrations, etc.)
B. Request certificates from the Secretariat (via online application)
C. Renew registration each semester and submit course declarations
D. Register for courses each semester within deadlines set by the School
At the end of each semester, students are examined only in courses they have officially declared.
During the September examination period, students are assessed in all courses declared during the academic year that they did not pass.
Undeclared courses cannot be examined.
Identity verification during exams is carried out using a student ID, passport, or other official ID with a recent photo.

Students declare and receive textbooks within Ministry-defined deadlines (eudoxus.gr).

FREE ADMISSION TO THEATRE PERFORMANCES
Students may apply for a free-entry theatre card, depending on each theatre institution’s policy.

Certain categories of students are eligible for free meals; others may receive meals at a low cost.

A. The financially responsible family member of a student may receive an annual allowance (€1,000) under Law 3220/2004

STUDENT OMBUDSMAN
The Student Ombudsman mediates between students and staff to ensure legality, good administration, and proper functioning of the institution.
It does not handle exam/grade disputes (regulated by Law 4009/2011).

ETHICS – PLAGIARISM
Students must comply with the Code of Ethics and Good Practice. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
All academic work must include a declaration confirming originality and proper citation of sources.
COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
Complaints are initially addressed through the Academic Advisor or Department structures. Special procedures apply for repeated exam failure (Law 4009/2011).

STUDY GUIDE

THESIS
Students may undertake a thesis equivalent to four elective courses. It is subject to plagiarism control and publicly defended.

SUSPENSION OF STUDIES
Students may suspend studies for up to four years, losing student status during that period.

CHARACTER OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Theatre Studies aims to provide both theoretical and practical education in theatre arts, combining academic research with artistic training.
The programme lasts four years (8 semesters) and offers two specialisations:

Theatre Directing and Performing Arts
Total workload: 240 ECTS credits (30 per semester), fully aligned with European higher education standards.
