On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, a workshop on the physical theater method “Self-with-others” will be held, led by actress, performer, and instructor Thekla Gaiti. The workshop is part of the course “Introduction to Physical Theater: Practical Applications,” taught by A. Vasilakou, a member of the Department’s Special Teaching Staff. The method focuses on the experiential exploration of the body as a field of perception, expression, and relationship.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Thekla Gaiti is an actress, performer, and instructor. She is a graduate of the “Veaki” Higher School of Dramatic Arts and completed the Master’s program “Theater and Society” in the Department of Theater Studies at the School of Fine Arts of the University of the Peloponnese. She has also studied contemporary singing at the Athens National Conservatory, physical theater at the international DUENDE School of Ensemble Physical Theater, Operations Research and Marketing at the Athens University of Economics and Business, and has received certification in the Breathwork therapeutic technique (Pure Awareness – Level I).
Since 2001, she has pursued a continuous professional career in theater, television, and film, collaborating with Greek and international directors, while also performing as a singer in concerts and television productions. In recent years, her artistic exploration has focused on conceptual photography and solo performance. In 2022, she created the solo work “Metadramatic,” which has been presented at festivals in Greece and abroad, and in 2025 she was honored with the OffFest Award (Off-West End Awards) as part of the Voila! Festival in London.
Since 2017, she has been teaching the Self-With-Others technique in Athens and at international artist residencies, and she has also served as an academic fellow in the Department. She is the founder of the artistic company Experimenta, through which she directs theater productions and educational programs, as well as the artistic space Experimenta area in Metaxourgeio (https://theklagaiti.com/el/).
