Course Description

The course introduces students to the field of theatre pedagogy through theoretical and practical approaches. It examines the relationship between theatre and education, highlighting the educational and social value of theatre-based learning. Students develop foundational knowledge and skills in curriculum planning, learning design, differentiated instruction, assessment, and the development of theatre pedagogy programmes in both formal and non-formal educational contexts.

After the successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

•    Understand theatre both as an artistic form and as a medium for education and personal development;
•    Recognize major approaches and practices in theatre and drama education;
•    Demonstrate knowledge of key theories of play and their relevance to drama and theatre pedagogy; 
•    Identify influential theories and methodologies that have shaped drama education;
•    Apply the main stages, techniques, and methods of theatre pedagogy in educational settings; 
•    Use theatrical and dramatic conventions to design experiential learning activities and workshops; 
•    Plan and facilitate theatre-based projects and performances with learners.
