Free Elective (course)
The course aims to introduce students of Theatre Studies to the French language and to support their continuous familiarization with it. It also presents and analyses key aspects of the broader French theatrical culture, as well as essential elements of French theatre terminology and theatrical discourse as expressed in works by French playwrights and Francophone theatre theorists. The course further seeks to develop students’ understanding of basic linguistic structures for everyday communication in contemporary France, alongside their ability to recognize and use elementary theatre-related terminology in French. It also promotes familiarity with French theatrical culture and contemporary artistic practices, while fostering an openness to intercultural and multicultural perspectives in relation to the arts.
