Course Description

This course explores light as a fundamental element of everyday life and artistic practice, examining its role in perception, functionality, health, and visual expression. Particular attention is given to the relationship between light and colour, including the psychological effects of colour, its contribution to image composition, and its broader aesthetic and philosophical dimensions. The practical component introduces students to lighting sources, theatrical lighting equipment, and alternative lighting technologies. Students become familiar with both traditional and contemporary lighting tools, the principles of stage lighting design, and the role of the lighting designer within the theatrical production process.
