Course Description

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the basic concepts of psycho-pedagogical approaches to teaching theatre in education. Through the course, students will develop an understanding of the content, structure, and aims of theatre education informed by psycho-pedagogical principles. Students will acquire a working knowledge of the theoretical framework of theatre pedagogy, including the psycho-pedagogical approach to theatre didactics in primary education, the relationship between theatre teaching and child development in primary school, as well as the corresponding approaches in secondary education in relation to adolescent development.

After the successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • distinguish the basic concepts of psycho-pedagogical approaches to teaching theatre in education; 
  • identify key aspects of cognitive, emotional, and social development in preschool, school-age children, and adolescents; 
  • apply effective classroom management strategies;
  • assess pupils’ progress in theatre education through formative assessment methods; 
  • demonstrate individual improvisational skills in theatrical expression through the use of body and voice.
