Free Elective (course)
The course examines artistic, intellectual, and philosophical developments in ancient Greece across key historical periods: (a) the Dark Ages and the Homeric period, (b) the Archaic period, from the formation of the city-states to the Battle of Salamis, (c) the 5th century BCE, from the establishment of the First Athenian League to the end of the Peloponnesian Wars, and (d) the 4th century BCE, from the death of Socrates (399 BCE) to the wars of Alexander the Great’s successors and the establishment of the Hellenistic kingdoms.
