Course Description

The course also addresses forms of performance that are not based on pre-existing dramatic texts, such as dance performances, devised theatre, and installations. In such cases, the dramaturgical process is shaped differently, focusing on the development of ideas, concepts, themes, or performative environments that contribute to the creation and structuring of the performance. Through theoretical discussion and practical engagement, students will examine the diverse functions and methodologies of dramaturgical work in contemporary theatre and performance.

After the successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate familiarity with the principles and practices of dramaturgical work;

  • understand how texts, concepts, and artistic ideas can be approached from a dramaturgical perspective in preparation for performance;

  • apply dramaturgical methods to the analysis, development, and shaping of performance material;

  • collaborate creatively in the development of performance projects through dramaturgical practice;

  • gain practical experience in dramaturgical work through applied exercises and project-based activities.
