Free Elective (course)
The course introduces students to contemporary Francophone theatrical writing from around the world. It focuses on reading, decoding, interpreting, evaluating, and reflecting on modern dramatic and literary texts in French. Students engage with key movements and theoretical approaches shaping Francophone theatre across different geographical and cultural contexts. Central topics include postcolonial writing, feminist writing, aesthetic minimalism, intertextuality, acculturation and assimilation processes, migration narratives, and representations of otherness. The course also aims to foster critical thinking, broaden cultural perspectives, highlight the diversity of Francophone theatrical production, and encourage reflection on contemporary social and cultural issues.
